Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has issued a directive warning against unscheduled visits by any high-profile guests to the state.
Tersoo Kula, the governor's chief press secretary, issued a statement on Monday morning stating that he is currently participating in crucial high-level meetings with key stakeholders to address pressing issues affecting the state.
The statement said that prominent people and groups shouldn't try to enter the state without getting permission first, especially if the visits could lead to political gatherings.
The statement read, "It is important to reconsider for anyone considering a visit to Benue State without the knowledge or approval of the Governor, as their safety and security cannot be assured."
The statement reminded the public that any individual or organisation intending to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state must first obtain written approval from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA)
The governor called on security agencies and the general public to take note of the announcement and continue to support the maintenance of peace and order throughout the state.
