“Bring Back My 5 Daughters!” Nigerian Mother Cries Out After Sister Allegedly Trafficks Her Children to Libya for Prostitution

A Nigerian woman, known as Morenike, is pleading with the government and the world to help rescue her five daughters, who she says were trafficked to Libya by her own sister and forced into prostitution.

According to Morenike, her sister had promised to take the girls aged 14 to 22 abroad for work opportunities. Instead, she allegedly sold them into a prostitution ring in Libya.

“She told me they would work as housemaids and help the family. I trusted her. She is my blood. Now I’ve lost five daughters to the streets of Libya,” Morenike said tearfully.

The girls were last heard from over a month ago through a brief, panicked phone call. Since then, there has been no communication.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) confirmed it is investigating the case. A spokesperson said the agency is working with international partners to track the girls’ whereabouts and arrest those responsible.

“This case reflects the dangerous rise in human trafficking involving trusted family members. It’s heartbreaking, and we’re treating it with urgency,” said an official from NAPTIP.

Human trafficking remains a major crisis in Nigeria and West Africa. Libya has become a dangerous hub for young girls being smuggled with false promises of jobs or a better life.

In many cases, traffickers are not strangers they are relatives, neighbors, or family friends.

Morenike story is a reminder of how quickly lives can be torn apart by deceit and desperation.

“I don’t care what has happened to them. I just want them back home. Alive,” she said.

As investigations continue, Morenike holds onto hope and the nation watches closely.
