The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of 47 suspects allegedly involved in internet fraud in Benin City, Edo State.
In a statement released via its official Facebook page on Tuesday, the commission said the arrests were made following credible intelligence linking the suspects to online fraud activities.

The EFCC’s Benin Zonal Directorate carried out the operation across different locations in the city on April 15, 2025.
According to the commission, several items were recovered during the arrests, including five luxury cars, multiple smartphones, and laptop computers believed to have been used in carrying out the fraudulent acts.

“The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities,” the statement read. “Items recovered from them at the point of arrest included five exotic cars, smartphones and laptop computers.”

The agency added that the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.
This latest bust comes just weeks after the EFCC’s Ilorin Zonal Directorate arrested 37 suspects across Kwara State in a similar operation.
