JAMB warns candidates against using fraudulent A-Level results to register for direct entry

During the 2025 Direct Entry (DE) registration process, candidates who attempt to gain admission through fraudulent Advanced Level (A-Level) results have been issued a severe warning by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

In order to avoid legal action, the board has advised such candidates to voluntarily withdraw their applications. JAMB emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the admissions process in a statement earlier this week.

A separate committee has been established by the board to check all A-Level qualifications submitted. Underscoring JAMB's zero-tolerance policy toward examination malpractice, any discovered fraudulent results will result in prosecution. After discovering 1,665 fake A-Level results during the 2023 DE registration exercise, JAMB has taken this action. Prof., the registrar of the board, According to Is-haq Oloyede, the A-Level results verification was initiated to address the widespread systemic corruption and restore the admissions process's integrity. Notably, it was discovered that only six of the 148 Direct Entry applications to Bayero University, Kano (BUK) had genuine certificates.  JAMB has implemented a "No Verification, No Admission" policy to combat this issue.

Before completing their DE registration process, institutions with a backlog of unverified candidates are also required by the board to pre-verify applicants' certificates. Candidates who are found to have used false A-Level results run the risk of not only losing their admission but also being prosecuted in court. To ensure a smooth admission process, JAMB has advised all candidates to verify the authenticity of their qualifications and fully cooperate with verification procedures.
