Lookman notifies Atalanta of transfer decision

 

 Ademola Lookman, a striker for Nigeria, is said to have told Atalanta management that he plans to leave this summer. According to TMW (Tutto Mecarto Web)Lookman and La Dea management have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ about leaving a decision to the player at season’s end over his future.

 The striker is now set to leave because he has attracted interest from larger European clubs, including Barcelona and Newcastle United, who are said to be monitoring Lookman's situation. In addition, it had been speculated that both Manchester United and Napoli might make a bid for the former Everton striker. Over the weekend, GIVEMESPORT also claimed that Nottingham Forest have set their sights on attempting to win the race for Lookman after the Atalanta star has worked his way onto the radar at the City Ground as preparations are made for the summer transfer window.

 The Tricky Trees showed a lot of ambition before the season started, and Elliot Anderson's £35 million move from Newcastle United made him the most expensive acquisition. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants to make more changes to his team as he gets closer to qualifying for the Champions League.  Nottingham Forest could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur if they step up their pursuit, according to GMS sources. The north London club has looked into recruiting Lookman in the past, and Aston Villa has been credited with an interest, despite the fact that the club is still working out their summer plans. The latter are putting a permanent deal first for Marco Asensio, who is currently on loan from PSG. They also need to decide if they will exercise their £40 million option to buy Marcus Rashford from Manchester United since he has played a lot under Unai Emery since his arrival in the middle of the season. Serie A heavyweights Juventus are another side who could attempt to come out on top in the battle for Lookman’s services, GMS sources understand, but Nottingham Forest want to make waves in the transfer market and have set their sights on tempting him away from Atalanta in the coming months.

 Even though GMS sources recently revealed that Ola Aina is open to staying at the City Ground despite receiving interest from Manchester City and Chelsea, the Tricky Trees are eager to welcome new players to the Midlands this summer.
