Opposition is accused by Edo APC of plotting to destabilize the state

In Edo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed concern regarding an alleged strategy by opposition parties to incite conflict and cause instability.

 The APC claims that certain political actors are orchestrating disruptions to render Edo unruly in advance of the elections. 

The APC issued a statement urging security agencies to take proactive measures to prevent any breakdown in law and order and warned that these alleged plans could result in unrest. 

"We have credible information indicating that opposition figures are working behind the scenes to cause state chaos," We call on law enforcement to remain vigilant,” the statement read.

 The APC has been accused of attempting to discredit political rivals and divert attention away from pressing governance issues, but opposition parties have dismissed the allegations as baseless. 

The claims were referred to as "desperate political propaganda" by a spokesperson for one of the opposition groups with the intention of misleading the general public. Stakeholders have urged all political actors to engage in issue based, peaceful campaigns rather than resorting to accusations and counteraccusations as tensions rise. 

Residents in Edo State have been given assurances by security agencies that they are closely monitoring the situation to avoid any potential threats to peace and stability.
