Taye Current Is Still an Upcoming Artiste, I Knew Tiri Leather Later - Remi Aluko”

Veteran Fuji star, Remi Aluko, has stirred reactions online after a recent interview where he addressed the legacy of two rising Fuji artistes Taye Current and Tiri Leather. When asked if he knew both acts back in the 90s, the street Fuji icon didn’t hold back.

Remi, popularly known as Igwe of Fuji, said point blank that Taye Current has remained an “upcoming artiste” despite being in the industry since the 1990s.

In the 90s, Taye Current was still an upcoming artiste, and even now, he’s still upcoming,” Remi said. “I was already trending then. Even Tiri Leather was nowhere to be found back then. I didn’t know either of them in those days.”

According to Remi, Taye Current’s presence in the Fuji space has largely been boosted by his father figure, the legendary Pasuma Wonder.

Taye is only using his father’s legacy. Pasuma carries him everywhere, gives him stage time and shows. That’s what pushed him,” Remi stated. “He doesn’t even have a hit song of his own. Every time he performs, he sings Pasuma’s songs. I’ve never seen one trending song from him that’s truly his.”

On the other hand, Remi gave credit to Tiri Leather for crafting his own sound and identity in the Fuji world, saying he respects the hustle.

Tiri Leather may be younger in the industry, but he’s doing his own songs, mixing it well with Pasuma’s vibe without leaning too heavily. I can say Tiri is way ahead of Taye in terms of creativity and originality,” he added.

He also revealed that in his personal opinion, Pasuma now sees Tiri Leather as a capable Fuji act who could carry the legacy forward.

Tiri stands alone. He built himself. Pasuma sees potential in him. Unlike Taye, who has been around for decades but hasn’t built himself outside Pasuma’s shadow,” Remi said.

He didn’t fail to mention that despite his honest opinion, he’s happy for Taye’s recent success, noting that one of Taye’s son is currently enjoying political and commercial popularity.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for him. His son is in power now, and that’s a big push. But Tiri and Taye are not mates. Taye is older in the game, yes, but Tiri is the one making Fuji music on his own terms.”

The candid interview has since gone viral, sparking heated debate among Fuji lovers about talent, legacy, and independence in the modern Fuji scene.
